East London-based film production company Montywood has released a sequel to Bitter Love that was released in November last year.
Bitter Love 2 continues the storyline, with Luzo starting a new life after divorcing his wife and marrying his girlfriend on the side.
The film focuses on issues of deceit, betrayal and love.
The cast includes Afika Nkamisa as Thato, Siyanda Futshane as Luzo and Sinazo Mdodana as Simmy.
Shot at various locations around East London, Bitter Love 2 promises to be full of drama, and bigger and better than its predecessor.
It took a production team of more than 51 cast and crew members 10 days to shoot the film.
The story is about the struggles couples face in their relationships, in particular the stress that comes with lies and betrayal between two people who claim to love each other.
Montywood’s video streaming platform provides access to affordable African movies, television series and documentaries.
Unathi Dyubula, the film’s executive producer, said the story shone a light on topics which needed to be addressed in society.
“Storytelling inspires, it informs, educates, is entertaining and heals,” he said.
“We’ve used many themes around relationship issues.
“The film is also focused on uplifting women and young Eastern Cape filmmakers.”
He and his team are busy working on another movie which is set to be shot next month, called Sex for Jobs.
“Sex for Jobs follows the story of Zandi, a single mother and journalist who is investigating sexual abuse in a government entity, but a victim pulls the plug on the story, risking Zandi’s ability to support her daughter,” said Dyubula.
Bitter Love 2 is accessible on Montywood’s website, using voucher codes available at spaza shops or Silulo Technologies branches or through online bank payments.
The cost is R5 for a full day’s viewing or R50 for 30 days.
