Montessori school celebrates first matriculant

In an historic achievement, East London Montessori School is proudly celebrating its first matriculant since the school opened in 2014.

This milestone not only signifies the school’s progress but also sets a hopeful precedent for future generations.

As the school’s first and only matriculant, Erin Odendaal says she has benefitted greatly from the small-scale classes and individual attention she has received from the teachers.

“The smaller classes add more one-on-one time with teachers and in the college class, you are prepared for (life) after school and treated like an adult with the calming environment of the farms around you,” Odendaal said.

The school has small classes for each grade, which ensures that each child receives maximum attention and allows pupils to learn at a pace that is beneficial and most comfortable for each pupil.

School principal Coral Yelseth said the school offered learning spaces and environments which were designed for independence, movement and collaboration.

“The milestone of having our first ever matric represents the culmination of years of hard workand following one’s goals, perseveranceand d resilience.

“It symbolisesthe beginning of a new chapter filled with possibilities and promise.

“Montessori produces confident and self-directed pupils who are ready for tertiary education and beyond,” Yelseth said.
