GO People – Sinesipho Peter

Sinesipho Peter

This week we chat to Sinesipho Peter, who has started a thriving cleaning business called Ready-Maid Cleaning Service, where she has provided employment to young unemployed people in her community.

What type of services do you offer?

We offer variety of cleaning service to suit people’s needs including residential cleaning, move in/out cleaning, post-construction cleaning, and spring cleaning. We also offer wall cleaning, window cleaning, kitchen cleaning and bathroom cleaning.

How and when did you start?

In 2020, my neighbour, who renders the same services, used to hire me. I saw that there was a great need for people who render cleaning services and I decided to start my business with the little detergents and cleaning material I had borrowed from home. My mother is a tailor and she made our uniform. I created a poster on Facebook and that’s how I got my first client.

What inspired you to enter the cleaning industry?

This all started when I was a teenager. I used to visit my aunts for holidays and we were given house chores. Mine were always completed and I would get compliments. I ended up enjoying cleaning so much. When I started the business I realised how much the community needed our services and we aim to save people’s time.

Do you have a team?

I have a team. I approach unemployed youth in my area, then I trained them. That’s how I formed my team.

Has the public been supportive?

The public has been extremely supportive to my business and I truly appreciate their support because today I have clients that rely on our services and trust us with their homes.

What are the top three most important things you prioritise?

Making sure we keep good hygiene, maintaining a safe environment for my team and ensuring clients’ satisfaction and trust is very important.

Are there any challenges you have encountered in your line of work, and how do you overcome them?

Yes, I have encountered challenges and one of them was not getting booked anywhere for a few months. However, that doesn’t discourage me. I keep on posting on my social media platforms.

What are your goals or future plans?

I want to expand and invest in high quality products to maintain customer satisfaction. I want to be able to venture into tender bidding and render my services to well-established companies. I’d also like to keep on creating more jobs for unemployed youth.

What advice do you have for someone who is starting their own business?

Start with the little that you have. Posting on social media should be an everyday thing. Create a trusted and respectful environment between you, your team and the clients and always be reliable. Just start and keep praying.

Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?

It’s completely understandable that maintaining a hygienic environment can be challenging. Prioritising your wellbeing and investing in cleaning services to keep your space clean is a great way to take care of yourself.
