Clarendon High School for Girls has achieved outstanding academic success, with its consumer studies class of 2024 securing a 100% pass rate.

This achievement places them first in the Buffalo City area and first in the Eastern Cape, with 12 pupils obtaining distinctions.

Teacher Kirsten Leibach, who led the class to these results, expressed her pride and gratitude.

“This is my first time achieving a 100% pass rate, and I couldn’t be prouder of the girls and their dedication,” Leibach said. “It’s a pleasure to teach pupils who arrive each day with a positive mindset.”

Leibach emphasised her commitment to supporting pupils, particularly those who need extra help. She operates an open-door policy, offering additional lessons after school and providing pupils with extra notes and summaries.

“Individual attention is important to me. I always strive to ensure that every pupil reaches their full potential,” she said. “I use visual teaching strategies like slide shows and pictures, as they help pupils better understand the content.”

Clarendon High School also acknowledged the role of past teachers in building a strong foundation for the pupils.

“Our thanks and congratulations go to Mrs Wetmore and Mrs Howarth, who provided solid foundations in grades 10 and 11, as well as Mrs Wetmore, who taught them in the first term of grade 12.

“Their contributions played a vital role in these outstanding results,” the school said.

With this success, Leibach hopes to continue inspiring her pupils to excel, encouraging them to work towards their goals and maximise their potential.
