Cambridge High School is set to dazzle audiences with its highly anticipated CHS’s Got Talent showcase, where pupils will take the stage to display their skills in music, dance, acting, and more.

Adding to the excitement, the show will be hosted by SA’s Got Talent host, Tats Nkonzo.

Cambridge head of culture and talent show organiser, Jenna Tesmer, said the talent show was aimed at giving pupils a platform to showcase their skills beyond the sports and cultural activities they already participate in at school.

“This event is a celebration of talent and an opportunity for the entire school to recognise and support the incredible skills our pupils possess. With such a diverse range of talents, many pupils do not always have the opportunity to showcase their skills due to their busy schedules. CHS’s Got Talent was created as a platform for these multi-talented pupils to share their abilities with the school community.

The event was first introduced in 2023, to great success. Although the 2024 show had to be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2025 edition promises to be bigger and better.

“Our hope is that pupils will gain increased confidence in their abilities and feel empowered to share their talents with others. Beyond personal growth, we also aim to foster a stronger cultural community within the school and the wider Cambridge community.

“CHS’s Got Talent is more than just a show — it is a platform where pupils can push their creative boundaries, attempt new things, and feel supported by their peers and teachers,” Tesmer said.

A staff member, who happens to be a close friend of Nkonzo, was able to secure a meeting with the comedian and he agreed to host the show.

“What excites me is seeing raw talent before everyone else. It is going to be an exciting evening.

“My advice to the contestants is to work hard, be excellent and have fun doing both. Opportunities like this give hope to artists because ultimately all we need is a stage. If there is a stage, there is endless hope,” Nkonzo said.

According to Tesmer, the show will be judged by four external judges who are all involved in the performing arts community. The audience will also have the opportunity to vote.

Drama pupil and show entrant Walizwa Danster, said she is most excited to see what her classmates’ talents are.

“I am excited, not only in terms of performing, but seeing all the other contestants perform and cheer them on.

“I’m especially excited to have the Tats Nkonzo as our host as I’m a fan and I’m curious to see who the guest performers will be,” Danster said.

The show will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at the Cambridge High School hall at 5.30pm. General tickets are R40 each, while VIP tickets, which include a front row seat and a snack platter, are R100. Tickets are for sale from the school’s front office, and not at the door.
