Well-known SA singer-songwriter Luna Paige is set to captivate East London audiences with her beautiful voice and soulful songs when she performs at House Gigs at 2, 12th Avenue, in Gonubie on Saturday March 15.
The Cape Town-based performer has made a name for herself as both an Afrikaans and English singer, blending elements of folk, rock, pop, country, blues and jazz to create her own style of music.
“I always like to say that my songs determine the genre they are written in. Because many of my songs are story-driven, the story sets the mood for the style.
“For that reason, I would say I have an eclectic songwriting style. I sing about life in general, our experiences as humans, our relationships with each other, with ourselves and also, with nature, and the world as a whole. The human experience is at the centre of most of my songs,” Paige said.
Paige’s current Oceanic Heart tour has already included Jeffreys Bay, Gqeberha, Port Alfred, Bathurst and is finally coming to East London.
Her upcoming show promises an uplifting experience centred around love in all its forms. “It feels as if the world needs it. My show aims to highlight the importance of love and compassion in our daily lives. It’s also a little quirky, as it looks at our love for our furry friends, ice cream, and the beloved SA road trip.”
In addition to performing her original songs, she will be covering Norah Jones, Neil Young, Nick Cave, Janis Joplin, and Dolly Parton.
Paige’s last visit to East London was in November 2024 when she performed in Gonubie. “I loved it so much, I had to come back in 2025! Before 2024, I performed in East London almost a decade and a half ago, that too was memorable. It’s great to visit the area more often again and reconnect with the lovely people,” Paige said.
The tour will take her across SA, culminating in a festival in Mozambique in May. After the tour, Paige plans to take a break before developing a new show titled The Travellers. She also intends to collaborate with electronic producers to experiment with new sounds.
Doors open at 6pm and tickets are R100 available on 082-494-6597.
