This week, we catch up with Zizikazi Rweqana to learn more about her cleaning business, Ezamazizi Cleaning Services, which she runs with her cousin, Kholo.
What types of cleaning services do you offer?
Our services include deep cleaning, spring cleaning, moving in and relocation cleaning. We also offer before and after event cleaning, laundry, and renovation cleaning, as well as any other extra cleaning a client requests.
How and when did you decide to start your cleaning business?
Our business started last year. I had been earning a low salary and needed extra income to cover my living expenses. I searched Google for side hustle ideas that could bring in extra money. I then made a poster and shared it on social media and that’s when I got my first client at West Bank.
What inspired you to enter the cleaning industry?
My inspiration was my love for clean spaces and also growing up in the rural areas where girls are taught to make sure the house is clean, and laundry is done and packed neatly.
Do you work alone?
When I started, I was alone and would call a friend when I needed assistance. My cousin Kholo approached me, and we shared ideas on how we would join forces and make it as she had also had her own cleaning business running at the time. Soon after that, we became the best partners.
How has the support from the public been for your business since you started?
Family and friends have been playing a big role in sharing posts on social media, and recommending us through word of mouth. This has helped us a lot in getting more clients, and we are grateful.
What are the top three most important things you prioritise in your cleaning services?
Ezamazizi aims at prioritising excellent services, respect and continuous reliability and accountability.
What sets your cleaning services apart from others in the industry?
We give clients great offers with great service excellence through hard work and extra care of their home.
Are there any challenges you have encountered in your line of work, and how do you overcome them?
There have been challenges such as cancelled bookings, and rainy weather which affects schedules and the scarcity of clients. We always keep it professional and understand that changes can happen at any time.
What are some of the goals or future plans you have for your business?
Our goal is to be the most well-known cleaning company in the Eastern Cape, owned by black women, and working on big tenders. We also plan to add more services, which we will share on social media. The future is promising.
What advice do you have for someone who is also interested in starting their own cleaning business?
The best advice I could share would be that the best things in life will come when you start from the bottom and never give up. You are capable of anything if you put your mind and effort into it.
Is there anything else you would like our readers to know about your cleaning service business?
We are the best cleaning service providers and our prices are the lowest you will find around East London.
