Beacon Bay Retail Park, a 27,676m² lifestyle centre has announced the completion of a major redevelopment and expansion project valued at R113m.
This investment enhances the shopping experience and supports growing demand from both shoppers and tenants in the region.
The redevelopment is part of a broader strategy to modernise the centre in both appearance and functionality to better meet the needs of today’s customers. Upgrades include new canopies, tiling, lighting, signage, parking surfaces and painting and refurbished bathrooms, all designed to create a brighter and more welcoming environment.
Retail customers increasingly expect more from their shopping environments in terms of convenience, design and atmosphere. This project ensures Beacon Bay Retail Park continues to meet these expectations while positioning the centre for future growth.
A key component of the upgrade included the introduction of a Builders Express of 2,500m² replacing Edgars, as well as the introduction of Dischem and a Burger King drive thru.
The secondary focus included the expansion of several long-standing tenants including Clicks, a tenant since the centre’s opening, to 990m² and Pick n Pay Clothing, a tenant for more than 20 years, to 570m².
The centre’s retail mix continues to evolve with new additions such as Jam Clothing, Whitehouse and Cutman & Hawk Coffee (opening in August 2025).
To accommodate increased foot traffic and improve accessibility, upgrades include a new traffic circle at the main entrance, re-tarring of the parking area, new zebra crossings with traffic-calming measures, and the addition of a pedestrian-friendly walkway.
With these improvements now completed, Beacon Bay Retail Park offers a refreshed retail space that blends convenience, variety, and a strong sense of place. It stands as a proud part of East London’s growth, built for the community, and ready for the future.
