Hudson Park High School’s U14 hockey teams kicked off their season with a challenging yet promising performance at the Alexander Road High School U14 Sports Festival last week.
Despite facing some of the strongest school hockey teams in the province, both the boys’ and girls’ teams held their own, showing resilience and flashes of brilliance. The girls’ team secured two dominant 6-0 victories against Victoria Girls’ High and Die Brandwag Hoërskool, while the boys delivered an impressive 5-0 win over hosts Alexander Road High.
Though they encountered tough losses against powerhouse teams like Pearson and Grey High, their competitive spirit remained evident, with the boys managing a hard-fought draw against Grey B and the girls sharing points with Victoria Park.
With the season only just beginning, the school said Hudson Park’s young hockey talents have set a strong foundation and their promising performances hint at an exciting season ahead as they refine their skills and grow as a team.
