Thornycroft Lodge & Spa will host a vibrant Family Fun Day this Friday, bringing together entertainment, wellness, and community-driven experiences in a tranquil outdoor setting.

 

The event will feature a full programme of activities for all ages, including live music, a DJ, children’s games, food vendors, sack races, water balloon challenges, “fishing for sweets,” an apple game, and face painting.

 

Guests will also have access to the lodge’s wellness offerings, including a raffle draw with spa treatment prizes.

 

Located in Horseshoe Valley near KuGompo CityEast London, Thornycroft Lodge & Spa has positioned itself as more than just a leisure destination, offering integrated accommodation, wellness, dining, and event services.

 

Manager Loyiso Mpongwana said the Family Fun Day was is designed to foster community connection, while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

 

“This event is about bringing people together. We also want to support young entrepreneurs who are running businesses from home by giving them a platform to showcase and market their products.

“This exposure can help them grow into sustainable businesses,” he said.

 

Mpongwana said added that there was is a growing need for safe, family-oriented recreational spaces.

The spa component of the event will feature specially curated wellness packages.

Beauty therapist Lungi Sidubulekana said the treatments wereare designed to combine relaxation with therapeutic benefits.

A couples’ package, ideal for a romantic getaway, includes a foot soak or back scrub, a full-body massage, and sauna access for R650.

Individual packages include a foot wash, full-body massage, and a complimentary beverage.

 

Additional specials on the day will include discounted rates on pedicures, full back massages, and neck and shoulder treatments.

The Lodge’s events and conference coordinator, Jessica du Preez, said the main aim of the Family Fun Day is to bring families together and create a joyful experience for children, while introducing something fresh to KuGompo City.

“This event is designed to bring families together, to see kids happy, and to introduce something different to the city,” she said.

Du Preez said the event also serves as a platform for local entrepreneurs.

“It gives small business owners an opportunity to engage with the community and promote their products,” she said.

She highlighted that the Family Fun Day offers a unique experience.

“There isn’t another event like this in the city. We are bringing back traditional children’s games that you don’t often see anymore, and we are set in a beautiful, secluded natural environment.

“There’s even a scenic river crossing, which adds to the overall experience,” said Du Preez.

In addition, the lodge offers affordable group accommodation, including student stays from R80 per person, making it suitable for sports teams and group events.
