Round four of the Royal Padel League Over-40s competition delivered everything that makes padel so exciting, big performances, unexpected results, intense battles, emotion and, most importantly, a growing crowd getting right behind the action.
With the league beginning to take shape, every match is becoming increasingly important, and Friday night certainly did not disappoint.
One of the most anticipated encounters of the evening saw the Govender twins, Darren and Derrick, take on Crispin September and Angelo del Fava.
It was expected to be a fiercely contested battle, but the Govender twins had other ideas.
From the opening point, the twins operated at another level. Their combination of power, consistency and tactical awareness proved too much for September and Del Fava as they raced to a convincing 6-5, 6-0 victory.
While the Govender twins produced one of the most dominant performances of the evening, it was another match that had everyone talking long after the final point.
The match of the evening was undoubtedly the clash between current Group A leaders Nathaniel Padayachee and Rajen Naidoo and ninth-placed Dua Naidoo and Devon Young.
What followed was an absolute thriller.
Nathaniel and Rajen started strongly, taking the opening set 6-5. But Dua and Devon refused to surrender, responding brilliantly in the second set to level the match with another 6-5 scoreline.
With everything riding on the deciding set, the contest went all the way to a super tie-break.
And what a tie-break it was.
Neither pair was prepared to give an inch as the points went back and forth. The tension around the court was palpable, with spectators watching every rally and every point.
In the end, Dua and Devon held their nerve to edge the deciding tie-break 10-9, claiming one of the most dramatic and exciting victories of the league so far.

The defeat proved costly for Nathaniel and Rajen, who surrendered their position at the top of Group A following the result.
Dylan Smith and Jonathan Van Oort have now moved into first position on the Group A log, taking over from Wesley and Fabian Pretorius.
Wesley and Fabian have moved into second position, keeping the pressure firmly on the new leaders as the competition begins to intensify.
In Group B, there has also been a battle at the top.
Frans Claassen and Juan Potgieter have now moved into first position on the Group B log, with Alec Stander and Dru Nass moving into second position.
Veeran Naidoo and Kurt Venga are now in third position. However, Veeran and Kurt still have a game in hand, meaning the Group B race remains wide open and the standings could change again as the competition progresses.
And that is exactly what makes this league so exciting.
