Our 24th year of 100% pass rate consisted of a third place in the province for our Dux, Moya Eybers, eight Cum Laude passes; 43 A aggregates; 400 subject distinctions; 60 B aggregates; 36 C aggregates; 141 Bachelor Passes and 2 Diploma passes. We are proud of every single one of these girls. The matrics of 2016 accepted the challenge and produced their best efforts to improve, to succeed. Congratulations to all of them. The school has once again received a 100% pass rate with 35 of the 36 matriculants attaining University entrance passes. 20% of the pupils achieved overall averages of over 80% with a total of 72 distinctions achieved by the class. Out of more than 500 schools that wrote the Olympiad, including schools from other Southern African countries, Hudson Primary achieved incredible results and is once again a 'Top 20 school'. EXCITING DAY: Merrifield Prep School Grade 2 pupils from left, Erin Farley, Teia van Rensburg and Ophola Tebe were glad to see each other after the long school holidays. GAME FOR ORIENTATION: Stirling High School's new Grade 8s enjoy team-building exercises as part of their orientation that took place last week. It was run by this year's prefects to make the new arrivals feel welcome and part of the school. PROUD ACHIEVEMENT: Beaconhurst Primary pupil Jaden Kraemer received a bronze medal for his third-place finish in the under-11 boys biathlon held in Port Elizabeth in September last year. WAVE WARRIORS: The Grade 3s of Selborne Primary enjoyed an adventerous day at Nahoon Beach with Jongenenge Cco Adventures last week Friday. WINNING SMILES: Stirling Primary recently held our Top 10 Gala. Over 40 events in less than an hour and a half; the gala was slick and exciting! A number of our school records were broken by our talented swimmers! Pictured are Grade 4 pupils Kesha Louw and Alyx Currin and Grade 3 pupils Catherine Hobson and Alexa Kriel TOP ACHIEVER: Congratulations to Cwayita Kweyi who achieved the highest matriculation results out of the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP) students in South Africa. Cwayita obtained 7 distinctions in her final matriculation examinations and obtained an overall aggregrate of 87.4%. She has also been awarded two bursaries to further her studies. Kweyi received an Allan Gray and Gallagher Foundation Bursary and will be attending the University of Cape Town to study study actuarial science. With her is Clarendon High School principal Pat Rose. FUN TIME: Clarendon Preparatory School's Grade 1s enjoyed bringing their dolly to school and introducing them to all their friends. During the holidays,5 pupils represented their Province in three different sporting codes. From left they are: Matthew Becker (Chess), Jorja Lindstrom ( Swimming), Nande Dlulane (Karate), Elsje Jacobs (Swimming) and Robyn Becker (Chess). Nande (centre of picture) had the distinction of representing South Africa at the World Youth Karate Championships which were held in Varna, Bulgaria, during the last holidays, and her school is justifiably proud of her and all the other provincial candidates.
