Charity run to support fight against polio

TAKE part in the family fun-filled charity run tomorrow and support the fight to end polio worldwide.

Gately Rotary and the Kempston Group have collaborated to bring this family event – Kempston & Rotary Polio Challenge – to life in aid of supporting this worthy cause.

BRING THE FAMILY: The second annual Kempston & Rotary Polio Challenge will take place tomorrow evening

Polio (poliomyelitis) is a crippling and potentially deadly infectious disease caused by the polio virus.

According to Global Health, the virus spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person’s brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis.

Interested runners and walkers alike have the choice of taking part in the 3km or 8km event.

Enter at Border Hockey’s Kat Leisure Park astro turf situated in Bunkers Hill, where the challenge will also start tomorrow evening at 5.30pm.

This year there are great apparel items with a T-shirt for the first 500 entrants of the 3km event, and a buff for the first 250 entrants of the 8km event.

Prizes will be awarded to the winning male and female of the 8km event for all those “racing snakes” interested in taking part.

All proceeds from the Kempston & Rotary Polio Challenge will go to Rotary International to assist in the worldwide fight to end polio.

Entry is R60 and R20 for a temporary licence for the 8km event.
