BRINGING HOPE: Cupido Academy of Grooming held an “Amazing Race” for children in the Parkside area recently. This event was held at the Buffalo City Metro’s pool, Ruth Belonsky Swimming Pool, in Parkside.
The children had a fun walk and then took part in games like tyre racing and swimming laps in the pool. “This was a fundraising event to help us raise funds to send the kids on a winter camp in June,” said academy director Louisa Smith.
It was not a once-off event for the children as Smith also has regular programmes with the kids. “Every Saturday I interact with these kids and I help groom them to become respectable youth. We bring awareness in terms of fundamental values and encourage academic discipline to the youth in the community.
“We also help these kids to stay away from all negative things that happen around our communities such as drugs and child abuse,” said Smith.
The kids from the community really enjoyed the event.
