Super-fit young biathletes need funding for trip
HUDSON Primary School pupils Luke Tinhof and Samantha Mouton will represent South Africa at the Biathle World Championships in Viviero, Spain, from September 20 to 24.
Their school coach, Sherelle Smith, said: “Hudson Park is extremely proud of their achievements. Sam and Luke have been working very hard and train nearly every day.
“No matter what their international placing, to us they are already winners!”
Biathle is a continuous race consisting of a run, then swim and another run.
Athletes have to sprint during the runs to be in the top spots, and have to be extremely fit to do so.
Mouton and Tinhof are very dedicated athletes and have an additional, rigorous training programme with swim coaches Vionne Skinner and Nona Keet, and running coach Sammy Saunders.
Mothers Maggie Mouton and Carol Tinhof said the self-funded trip meant the young athletes’ parents had to raise the necessary funds.
“We hereby request your assistance to make this dream possible for Samantha and Luke,” they said.
“We also wish to thank Aloe Travel for their professional assistance with our travel arrangements. It has been such a hassle- free experience to book accommodation, transfers and flights.”
They would also like to give a big thank you to Round Table Nahoon160 for their generous contribution.
