Breidbach to host 16 Days of Activism event

THE Breidbach community have a 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence event on at the community hall today.

Speakers from governmental departments such as safety, education, correctional services and health in support of non-governmental organisations and prominent high-profile community leaders will deliver messages of support with the Buffalo City Municipality mayor Xolani Pakati presenting the keynote address.

Area ward councillor Sixolisiwe Ntsasela said the event is staged by BCM in partnership with the relevant governmental departments and community stakeholders.

“The aim is to make our community aware of the 16 Days of Activism which runs every year from November 25 to December 10,” Ntsasela said.

She said the decision to have the event staged in Breidbach was taken due to the many drug-related incidents taking place in her ward.

“Breidbach is one of the areas in my ward which is most affected by drug related incidents hence we have decided to bring the event to the area and we are hoping to have a full-packed hall.”

Sanca are also among those lined up to deliver supportive messages to the community.

The event will kick off at 10am at the Breidbach community hall and a meal will be provided thereafter.
