YOUTH Potential South Africa (Youpsa) is launching its first #GivingTuesday campaign to raise funds for the various educational programmes the charity runs in rural schools around the Eastern Cape.
“#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organisations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide,” said Youpsa director Alexis Salaman.
This year #GivingTuesday will take place on Tuesday November 28 and Youpsa is calling for companies and individuals to consider supporting one of their many classes by donating to this campaign.
The organisation supports 25 classes of pupils around the Eastern Cape and it takes more than R28000 per year to fund one class.
Youpsa’s programmes impact 2000 youth, 85 teachers and six school governing bodies in the Eastern Cape throughout the year. Each pupil is equipped with unique experiential learning skills and support that extends beyond the classroom and into the community.
The charity is especially active in the Chalumna area where they facilitate various art, leadership and literacy programmes for pupils, as well as training workshops for teachers.
“Supporting a Youpsa class will make all the difference in the world for these kids and their families. We hope to see as many classes as possible sponsored by the public during this campaign,” said co-founder and facilitator Ray Schone.
