Schools Continue To Shine At Eisteddfod

Local schools proudly showed off their musical talents as the East London Port Rex Lions Eisteddfod continued this week. By the close of the second day, four Special Mentions (reflecting a mark of 90% or above) were awarded to Bradley Ktretzmann, Isemihle Nkomozoke, and Gerard Clark, all for vocal solos, with the final Special Mention going to the Stirling Primary School Choir. 13 Gold awards (awarded for a mark of 80-89%) were also issued and recipients include the choirs of Cambridge Primary, Clarendon Primary, and Hudson Park Primary schools.

The third day was just as successful with a total of five Special Mentions being awarded to Sophumelela Mvenia and Sesona Bishoti for vocal recitals, the Hudson Park High School Choir, Merrifield Foundation Phase Choir in the Junior Primary School Choral Section, and Stirling High Chamber Choir in the High School Choral section. Nine more Gold awards were also awarded to the following choirs: Gonubie Primary Junior Choir, Hudson Park Primary Foundation Phase Choir, Stirling High Girls’ Choir, and Cambridge High School Choir.
