Dynamic dance showcase

The Dynamic Body Studio’s Holiday Club’s showcase performance took place on Tuesday and Wednesday night at the Arts Theatre Club in East London.

Dancers from as young as age six showed off their steps through various dance styles such as tap, Spanish, and modern to name but a few.

Studio owner, Vicky Luff said this was a challenging endeavour to pull off in just a week but the rewards were well worth it.

It’s rewarding to see a child’s smile after learning as well as giving an opportunity to those that have never danced in their life but have given their heart and effort to the process,” Luff said.

She added that the children get to work together, learn life lessons, and develop a love for theatre and dance.

13 year old Kelsey Flashman enjoyed the holiday club immensely and can’t wait for the December instalment.

It was nice to learn other dance styles I haven’t been exposed to as I normally do modern. I enjoyed the Spanish and contemporary styles and also enjoyed working with the different choreographers,” she said.

Some parents, such as Lauren Brownlee, had the opportunity to assist with the organisation of the showcase.

The production was well put together and it was such a pleasure helping backstage with the kids getting them ready. The little ones looked so cute and shy but they had so much fun,” Brownlee said.

Luff added that children of different ages and from all walks of life can come together where they have a universal language of dance.

It can develop who you are and make a difference in a child’s life,” she said.

Applications for the December holiday club will open in October. It will start on December 3 with two nights showcase on December 17 and 18 at the Guild Theatre.
