Mthatha-based singing trio, 047 will be serenading East London locals on Friday at the Guild Theatre during the launch of their debut album, Wen’Ungowam (You are mine).
The group’s members Ngcali Nundu, 19, Lihle Baleni, 20, and Sihle Mdaka, 21, met at a talent show competition.
“We were locked in the hall and decided to start jamming. A friend of ours was a neighbour to Vusi Nova’s friend, and had asked his brother to give him the demo. Vusi Nova called us – and the rest is history.
Each member has one song they hold dearly in their hearts from the album.
For Nundu, it’s Sthandwa Sam (My Beloved), which is about two people who are in love and shouldn’t let go of each other. Baleni said his favourite song is Wen’ Ungowam, and Mdaka said his was Hallelujah, because he grew up listening to gospel music.
The show starts at 6.30pm, with tickets costing R200 and VIP ones R300.
Tickets for the show are available at Computicket and at the Guild Theatre.
