There was much excitement as East London local musician Jordan Dysel’s song Faded Love debuted at No1 Number 1 on the Algoa FM’s Top 30 Ccharts on Saturday.
Dysel said he discovered his talent for music at the age of four after teaching himself to play the melodies of popular songs by ear on a toy piano.
“During primary school, I took private piano lessons and participated in numerous eisteddfods. My musical studies continued in high school, where I began developing an interest in singing and recording,” he said.
After matriculating in 2014, he enrolled in Music Ttechnology at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth to nourish his talents. However, Dysel said it was when he met with local producer and songwriter, Austin Summers in October 2017, that his career took a spin.
“We worked together to release my debut single, Find Love, by the beginning of 2018. Faded Love, written and produced by Summers, Austin, was released as a follow-up single a few months later,” Dysel explained.
The local musician said topping the number charts is something he did not expect.
“It is a fresh feeling each time I hear my song playing on the radio. I don’t think that I will ever get used to it,” he said
“I was pleasantly surprised when it made Algoa FM’s Top 30 and the fact that it reached No1 this past Saturday was beyond my expectations – I am truly grateful for all the support.
“It has been incredible working with Austin Summers. He knew the exact direction I wanted to go with the style of the song. My musical style is still developing and even though I am mostly influenced by dance-pop and electronic music, I am open to trying out new genres of music.” Dysel said.
He is currently focusing on writing and producing. He also intends on releasing new music content by September, as well as building towards an eventual album.
While gaining extensive radio play across the country, there is no doubt that Dysel Jordan is slowly but surely making waves throughout the South African music market.
