When one thinks of sport, the first thing that comes to mind is an athlete in uniform running around on a sports field. Whether it is rowing, soccer, weight-lifting, or gymnastics, sport comes in various forms but the focus on physicality and athletic ability ties them all together.
Or does it? Chess has been recognised as a sport by the International Olympic Committee since 1999 and there are now calls for the IOC to recognise eSport (competitive video gaming).
