Last Thursday the old clinic building’s soup kitchen, operated by the King William’s Town Lions Club, brought happiness to those in need.
Besides the usual serving of food to its more than 400 people which include patients at the local clinic, the needy people from poor areas within the community and children of the Happy Hearts Pre-School, the Lions also handed out clothing and blessed the women with a food parcel.
Soup kitchen project manager, Lion Peter Moses said women needed to be spoilt during August. “We are in Women’s Month and as the Lions Club, we brought a little more to the usual programme by adding the food parcels, as well as the clothing.
“All this was made possible to us by the generous donations and overwhelming support we as the Lions Club are gaining from the King William’s Town business sector and the community.”
Breidbach senior citizen, Sina Snyders said: “I am thrilled and over the moon with the gesture. Thank you so much Lions Club and keep up the good work.”
Another thankful beneficiary of a food parcel, was Janet McPherson who always avails herself to assist with the serving of the food at the kitchen.
“I really appreciate the food parcel and thank the Lions Club for always thinking about us,” said McPherson.
Happy Hearts Pre-School principal Daniela Boswell said: “Whenever the children spot a blue T-shirt, they immediately get excited as they know they will benefit from the visit of the Lions Club. We are grateful and appreciate their kindness.”
