THE Breidbach community was mesmerised by the sweet melodies and voices of Uitenhage-based vocal group, the Christadelphians, during their Evening of Song at the Breidbach Hall over the weekend.
The local Volkskerk van Afrika Women’s League organised the event as a fundraiser and commended the community for their overwhelming support for the event.
“We are grateful for the generous contributions coming from all the sponsors that included prizes of a lucky draw for a weekend away at a guest house and items for the kiosk in operation during the event,” Women’s League chairperson, Jaylene Christian said.
An elated Yulanda Esben of Breidbach won the prize for a weekend away and said: “I am excited, over the moon. This is just unbelievable”.
The evening saw the audience join in singing and dancing as the group, who will celebrate 50 years of singing in 2019, entertained them.
Popular hymns like Lion of Juda and Niks is Onmootlik by die Heer were just a few of the songs performed and group leader Danny Jacobs made sure that everyone was smiling.
“Next year we are planning to make our 50th anniversary a remarkable one and will remember you as our loyal supporters here in King William’s Town and East London,” said Jacobs.
“I’m a loyal supporter of the Christadelphians, never miss their show and tonight was great as always,” Schornville’s Angela Jagers said.
Breidbach resident Bianca Swartbooi attended the show for the very first time and promised never to miss it again.
“I have enjoyed the three hours in their company, the message within their songs touched me deeply,” said Swartbooi.
“The messages in the song lifted me from my seat at the back with the spirit touching me and moving to the front where I worshipped and praised God,” said King William’s Town resident Charmaine Groep, who thoroughly enjoyed the show.
