KAYSER’S Beach local and Selborne Primary School pupil Liam Prime, 11, is raising funds to travel to Hurghada in Egypt to participate at the World Biathle Championships next month.

Last year, Prime secured 10th place at the South African Biathle which earned him a spot on the presidential team which travelled to Spain at the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).

“What is phenomenal is that Liam was 10 years old and competing in the U13 age group at the recent SA champs, where he managed a seventh place. He managed to secure his spot, almost obtaining his personal best time,” said his mother, Vanessa Prime.

Prime said Liam harboured a dream of one day being a world champ, and was using opportunities such as these as a stepping stone to that achievement.

“Our fundraising journey has been blessed thus far as people have truly opened their hearts in supporting Liam. We are on the last leg of fundraising and are selling R10 raffle tickets.

“Should anyone be interested they can contact me on 078-451-9965. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all who have supported Liam. He will proudly carry the SA flag to Egypt,” Prime said.
