What a weekend, what an event! That is the verdict from all those who participated in the annual Old Buck-sponsored King Bowling Club Classic played last weekend.
A total of 22 teams turned out, the majority from East London, while Cathcart and Komani were also represented.

The winning team from the Comrades Club who ended on 101 points, was captained by Mickey Underwood, while the side from Old Selbornians, captained by Des Knock, ended second on 86 points.
Third place went to Rob Kelly of Kidd’s Beach with King’s Tinus Terblanche fourth.
The winners walked away with R8,000, while those teams who came second, third and fourth won R6,000, R4,000 and R2,000 respectively.
At the prize-giving, King Bowling Club president Gordon McCune expressed his thanks to all bowlers, as well as the kitchen and greenkeeping staff.
“A lot of work goes on behind the scenes in organising such a weekend and as a club, we are grateful to all those bowlers who supported us,” he said.
All bowlers were treated to steaks on the Saturday evening while a lot of fun was had in the pub.
On the Friday evening prior to the Classic, King vice-president Ivor Penny presented 96 brand new bowling mats which will replace the old ones which are 13 years old.
The old mats were organised by past president Roy Stone. The new mats were sponsored by Penny and his wife Bronwyn.
