The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) is urging citizens to be drink responsibly this festive season.
“Christmas is the time of the year when everyone has extra cash, many ready to enjoy themselves by overindulging in alcohol,” said ECLB CEO Pumlani Fani.
In the name of safety, he said, people must not allow themselves to give into temptation, especially when doing so would put them or others in danger.
“Those who are on the road, must ensure that they never drink alcohol before they drive their vehicles – it is deadly. If you are having a drink, do not drive and do not walk on the public roads when you are under the influence of alcohol,” Fani said.
Fani also extended his message to traders.
“I would like to urge liquor traders to trade responsibly and observe opening and closing times,” he said.
On behalf of the ECLB, Fani extended thanks to all those who have helped the organisation.
“We realise the complexity of regulating the liquor industry. I therefore take this opportunity to convey our heartfelt gratitude to all our stakeholders for their unwavering support and dedication,” he said
