Project helps make Christmas special for children

Project White Christmas is an initiative started by King William’s Town-based Rihnaj Models Incorporated owner Brendon Gosling in 2013. It is aimed at making Christmas special for local children by handing out toys and treats, and engaging in fun activities like games and face painting.

“While we celebrate our Christmas with loved ones, and enjoy our five-course meals dressed in our fancy outfits, exchanging gifts with laughter and happiness surrounding us, have we ever for one moment stopped to think of those kids a few streets away that have absolutely nothing to smile about on the special day?” Gosling asked .

“Last year, with the help from the communities, we managed to make 400 kids smile on Christmas morning,” he said.

His goal this year is to extend the total to 1,000 children. He and is pleading with the community and businesses to share in the initiative.

“We are not asking for expensive toys, because it’s the simple things in life that we take for granted that make a big difference in the lives of those kids that have nothing.

“To me, Christmas has always been about giving, helping those less fortunate and making a difference. It’s a time to give thanks for what we have been blessed with and sharing in trying to make a difference by showing our appreciation,” Gosling said.

“The true spirit of Christmas is dying out more and more each year as we forget the true meaning of the day and the festive holidays.”

Anyone interested in making a contribution can message Rihnaj Cece on Facebook, or contact Naomi Estruis on 078-128-2814 or contact Brendon Gosling on 079-528-9353.

They promise to collect it anywhere in King William’s Town, Bhisho and surrounding areas.
