Local Vendors opened their stalls to the public at the Mzantsi Market Fundraiser Festival held in Gonubie recently.
The one-day festival was filled with alternative fashion, arts, crafts, food stalls and live entertainment for the family, within a fantastic outdoor picnic setting.
Kayleigh Luck of Mzantsi Group said instead of a Christmas party, they opted for helping a local charity that does great things in the community.
“All the proceeds here will go to Angel Outreach which works with children’s homes.
“The market is also a way of giving support to local entrepreneurs. Some people who are selling at on this market are unemployed and some are pensioners. We are also providing giving young girls with a platform to sing,” she said.
Luck added that they were also looking into having a similar market next year to aid other charities in the community.
“The aim of this event is to have tons of fun with your family, but we also aim to promote small businesses and simultaneously raise funds to make a meaningful donation to selected charities for Christmas,” she said.
Vendors on the day were selling an array of of products, including arts and crafts, clothes, jewellery, toys, books, plants, handmade crafts, food and sweets. stalls.
Vendor, Thokozile Qabaka of Noncedo‘s Creations said the market gave people an opportunity to buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones.
“The market came in December at a time where people are busy buying Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Our shweshwe animal dolls are a huge sell-out during this season.” said Qabaka.
