Aspiring model Sinebango Cetywayo, 11, has been selected to represent East London on an international stage at the International Arts Applause Rising Talent Showcase from July 3 to 7 in Florida, USA.

Sinebango’s mom Fezeka Cetywayo said she realised Sinebango had a talent for modelling when she was only five years old.

“It was at the age of six that she took it professionally. She was chosen by Jumbo Stores to be their young model for their clothing ranges.

“She did a summer, winter, spring and back-to-school shoots where she appeared on billboards and in catalogues nationwide,” Fezeka said.

She said Sinebango attended Miss South Africa Pre-Teen last year and came in fourth place among 14 contestants.

Fezeka said her daughter was the Face of Africa winner 2018, based on having received the most votes for her campaign picture in her age group.

Arts Applause Rising Talent Showcase is an international platform that endeavours to showcase young talent from all over the world.

Sinebango is also a dedicated Beaconhurst Primary School pupil. She has been class captain and is also the best mathematics pupil in grade 4 and received more than 85% in four subjects. She was awarded a sports badge for high achievements in her grade.

“I have to pay for the whole trip. I am thinking of doing a garage sale as a form of fundraising. Our friends and family are helping by depositing money for the course,” Fezeka said.
