New show will ‘tantalise and tease’

East Londoners can get their rhythm and feathers on as the Big Burlesque Show takes place from April 4 to April 6 at the Arts Theatre.

Production company Ooh La Lesque has had an enormous amount of support with audiences often requesting re-runs.

Creator and director Nasine van Rensburg takes delight in the has the delight and challenge of coming up with a new show every year.

“I created a show that will tantalise and tease the audience like the very first time they experienced burlesque,” van Rensburg said.

The show infuses different music genres and burlesque styles with each other.

Burlesque itself is a broad genre and one can be as creative as one they wants to be in putting the show together.

“I have used Latin-inspired music, pop, big band jazz and the bump-and-grind sounds of the moody blues for this show,” van Rensburg said.

The cast is bigger this year, sporting some with ensemble numbers, as well as adding new voices into the mix.

The dance routines are Dancing is also expected to be more demanding of the performers than previously. years.

“Please note that although there is no nudity in this show, it is still only for mature audiences and a age restriction of 15 applies,” van Rensburg said.

The show promises glitz, rhinestones and a lot of dazzle. Tickets are available at Lee Gold Music on a cash-only basis at of R100.
