The Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (Choc) East London will host a Kids Cycle event and family fun walk on May 25 at the East London Grand Prix track.
The day kicks off with a 1km junior cycle race, ending off with a 10km cycle race. Choc regional manager Debbie Kleinenberg said the emphasis is on participation and enjoyment among family members.
“We are appealing to families to come and enjoy the day and give their children an opportunity to race the track. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Kleinenberg said.
A parade of Border Motorsport cars will take place during lunch, where one can catch a closer look at the cars in pitstop area.
Children may partake in more than one event but helmets are compulsory for all entrants.
Kleinenberg said that all funds raised would go towards the organisation’s training and awareness campaign on Early Warnings of Childhood Cancer. The training is run throughout the Eastern Cape. There will also be food stalls, face painting and a jumping castle to add more fun to the day.
Late entries are available until 3pm on May 24 at Choc, located at 54 Edge Road in Beacon Bay, or at the Grand Prix Circuit at 9am on the day.
The event starts at 10am and will run until 3pm.
