East London resident local Klaus Rodemann had the opportunity to rub shoulders with national celebrity chef Zola Nene in Port Elizabeth recently.
Rodemann entered a Lancewood Cheese competition earlier in 2019 this year after submitting a recipe using using their cottage cheese.
“To my surprise, I was informed in April that I was one of the winners – for me and three friends to join in which won a feast with Zola for a feast,” he said.
“We had to select a starter, a main meal and dessert from menus which Zola prepared cooked during her TV series,” he said.
They chose a scrumptious starter of aromatic skewers with a creamy coconut dip. This was followed by a mouthwatering braised lamb with creamy rice as a main course. They polished off the night with delicious milk tart spring rolls as dessert.
“Zola made us prepare and cook the meals following with her instructions.
“It really was a fun evening and such a pleasure to meet her,” Rodemann said.
The night was based on the TV cooking show series series, Celeb Feasts with Zola.
His daughter Heidi Hawkes said the night was amazing and she and learnt a lot from the meal preparations.
“I’ve recently made the milk tart spring rolls we did, and they came out perfectly. Unfortunately, I don’t get much time in the kitchen because of my demanding job, so my husband does most of the cooking,” Hawkes said.
