To honour Nelson Mandela, Forwards Clinic gave spared their 67 minutes by sharing rugby knowledge with schools from underprivileged backgrounds in the form of a coaching clinic at the Old Selbornians Rugby Club last week.
“We hosted a few boys from Mdantsane who are under the banner of Hurricanes Rugby,” Forwards Clinic coordinator Sihle Jam Jam said.
“We got boys from ages 14 to 16 and put them for two hours through basic aspects of our programme, that being scrums, line-outs, attack and defense.
“Forwards Clinic we saw it fit to give our time to help these budding stars and we were more than impressed by the level of skill and commitment that was on display.
“Furthermore, through private donations we were able to give them a few rugby balls and boots.” said Forwards Clinic coordinator Sihle Jam Jam said.
Jam Jam said the organisation currently consisted of himself and former Springbok Delarey Du Preez.
“We provide private sessions to individuals or set groups and we co-ordinate the sessions from Old Selbornians Rugby Club.
“Depending on the age bracket in attendance at the session, we go from the fundamentals of each position to more advanced forwards play,” he said.
