Cambridge High School pupil Inam Mvana, 17, will be going on the trip of a lifetime when she travels to the US next year to take part in the International Arts Talent Showcase (IATS), hosted by International Models and Talent Association (IMTA).
Mvana won the opportunity after a successful audtion at Hudson Park High School in June 2019.
“Being on stage is where I am most comfortable,” she said.
“It has been a long journey but it will be worth it in the end.”
Following her audition at Hudson, Mvana received a call to take part in another audtion in Johannesburg in September 2019, where she modelled for a panel of international judges from IMTA.
“After that, I got an invite to perform in New York.
“We were supposed to perform in July but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed until January,” said Mvana.
“They made it more exciting for us because now we’ll perform in Hollywood, Los Angeles and go sight-seeing in New York.
“We’ll see the Statue of Liberty, go on a boat cruise and we’ll visit Times Square.”
She said she had been passionate about modelling from an early age and took whatever opportunity she could to learn more.
“Everything that involves modelling, I try to get involved in for experience.” Mvana said.
While IATS is the first “big” competition she had taken part in, Mvana said she often took part in local pageants organised by her community.
“Modelling is me, I don’t know how to fully explain the feeling,” she said.
