For one Braelyn resident, flooding has been a problem long before the recent heavy rains.

The resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said that she has been dealing with a major water leak outside her home on White Pines Road that has been left unattended for 18 months.
The problems began after BCM installed a new set of pipes at the top of the road. Since then, the resident has had to deal with a constant leak that has turned the area outside her home into a swamp.
When the GO! & Express visited the residence on Tuesday, water was running freely across the street, turning the many potholes in the road into miniature lakes.
The grass outside the house was soaked through and the resident had resorted to placing wooden pallets at the entrance in order to get across.

“They [BCM] came out but they couldn’t find the leak. They told me they would check but nothing was done about it,” she said.
The leak has created a serious injury risk for the resident.
“I’ve slipped here, my grandchild slipped here. I’m too scared to come out of my house,” she said.
This risk was experienced first- hand by the GO! after a reporter was nearly sent tumbling due to a thick layer of slippery algae that had formed along the road’s edge.
“I’m tired now, I can’t live like this,” the resident said.
BCM could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
