Undiscovered talent on display at exhibit

The works of rising talents such as Tango Bobo and Evert Esterhuizen, as well as still unknown artists is on display in the innovative Emerging Artists exhibition at CVD Framers.

CVD Framers called for submissions from young artists under the age of 35 near the end of last year, with the aim of providing undiscovered artists with a platform from which to both sell and showcase their art.

Launched on January 26, the exhibition features paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, prints and drawings, among other mediums.

The works were carefully selected for their originality and quality.

CVD Framers curator, Louise Petrucci, said: “So much talent is invested in emerging artists, just waiting for us to discover it and share it with the rest of the world.

“I have a passion for promoting  artists and hopefully opening doors for them to other opportunities.

“The exhibition at CVD gallery offers the chance  to buy art before the artist is famous.

“A few of my favourite pieces from the collection include Tango Bobo’s piece Equilibrium’ that incorporates a fusion of  print and drawing, creating an interesting dialogue.

“Evert Esterhuizen’s painting Die voelers, doeners en die denkers’ vibrant colours give me joy.

“And finally, Sonwabise Mathandabuzo’s The Hunter’, as I find the humour and symbolism used by the artist thought-provoking.”

Award-winning artist featured in the exhibition, Bobo said: “My art style is reminiscent/influenced by the art movement, surrealism. I distinguish my art style as contemporary surrealism.

“I specialise in printmaking because the finish has a high-class aesthetic.

“The use of triangular composition enhances this style and finish.

“Simultaneously, the use of triangles provides me with a signature style. And as much as it is a signature style, it stems from a conceptual point of view.

“My favourite among my pieces for the exhibition is the artwork entitled, Equilibrium. I love how I interpreted the space between the two mediums within the piece. Namely, the woodcut in the foreground and ink drawing in the background.

“The uniqueness of my art lies in the manner in which I interpret space and composition and how I use visual metaphors. I apply odd symbols to visually communicate a deeper message. I do my level best to make sure I do not practice redundant visual concepts, or concepts that have been practiced by a number of my predecessors.

“As cliché as it may sound, my work is a breath of fresh air.”

The exhibition is on throughout February and pieces are available for sale. Contact CVD Framers on 043-726-1449 for more information
