National CBD Awareness Day has been recognised on August 8 as a day on which the benefits of CBD (cannabidiol) are celebrated and awareness is raised on the various uses of it.
CBD is beneficial for many reasons including pain relief, improvement of sleep and relief from pain, inflammation and migraines. It is also believed to assist with depression and anxiety related symptoms.
CBD was legalised in SA in 2019, resulting in businesses openly selling CBD products.
One such business is Reconnect in Berea, East London.
Reconnect specialises in CBD products including CBD oils, capsules, creams, gummies and vape juices.
All their products are made in a lab and are properly vetted.
They also offer free consultations to assist people with finding the right CBD product with the correct dosage that they may need for their various ailments.
Roxy Bezuidenhout, manager of Reconnect, strongly believes that the key to society becoming more open to the benefits and use of CBD, is education.
“At Reconnect, we wanted to make a safe, affordable, controlled environment for customers to come with ease.
“We feel that better education on the product can help with the negative connotations, because it is medicine and more people should use it and get the benefits from this amazing plant,” Bezuidenhout said.
CBD oils have also been deemed safe for animal use.
Shendl Rewitzky of Pure CBD Oil East London sells CBD oils that she also uses on her own animals.
“I found this company six years ago when I was looking for a CBD oil to help my dog who was suffering from cancer. I stock a high-quality CBD oil three different strengths.
