Steve Hofmeyr, the outspoken singer, actor and TV presenter, will be performing a mix of old songs, as well as a range of new songs on October 13 at the Buffs Club.
Hofmeyr’s show is part of fundraising efforts for a Western Cape NPO that focuses on assissting people who suffer from heart disease, bone disease and diabetes.
Hofmeyr has made a name for himself as one of the most popular Afrikaans singers and has expressed his excitement to perform in East London again.
“My relationship with East London audiences has always been wonderful.
“I have a larger English audience there and we have been enjoying each other for a long time. I have never felt alien in East London.
“My show is a family show, full of fun and nostalgia.
“There will be a couple of country songs along with Amanda and Neil Diamond followed by plenty of Afrikaans,” Hofmeyr said.
With 34 years of experience in the industry, Hofmeyr has released more than 20 albums, and has hosted thousands of concerts.
The 59-year-old artist has managed to maintain high popularity with music audiences over the years, despite often making headlines for his controversial opinions and personal life.
Hofmeyr insists that controversy notwithstanding, his artistry remains relevant to audiences across the country.
“I have managed to stay relevant by sticking to what I and my audiences share; a love of music, a long, beautiful history together.
“We share a love of grannies and grandpas, moms and dads and safe, healthy children. I stay relevant by merely staying informed about issues relevant to us,” Hofmeyr said.
Hofmeyr would like to thank East London audiences for their continued support of work as well as local business Buffalo Toyota, for their sponsorship of his transport needs.
Hofmeyr’s stage performance will take place at Buffs Club on Saturday October 13.
Tickets cost R200 per seat, and bookings can be made by calling Sonja on 066-261-2621.
