Future Springboks flying Border flag high at U12 level

The southern region U12 provincial tournament took place in Riversdale over the weekend, where the A and B sides played rugby against Boland, Western Province, South-Western District, Namibia and Eastern Province.

The teams were coached by Lusindiso Nkomo, Sam Mabombo, Lungisani Dube and Dimitri Strydom.

The tournament was held for coaches to evaluate players in preparation for the 2024 Border U13 Craven Week.

Nkomo, a rugby coach from Stirling Primary School, is responsible for the U12 A side.

He said: “The first game was hard. We sustained two injuries, but we won. The second match started well but with three injuries, we lost the game.

“We dominated in the third game, but execution wasn’t there, and we lost.”

Mabombo, from Dale Primary, is in charge of the B side. “The boys had an exceptional tournament, winning all three games.”
