Buffalo City Adventures is in the final stages of planning to introduce a fun and innovative way for people to learn more about East London while taking in the beautiful sights that the city has to offer. The introduction of e-scooters and e-scooter tours along the Esplanade has made learning about the city’s rich history an appealing activity for locals and tourists.
Siseko Yelani, founder of the project, says this project will be a boost for BCM tourism.
“Weare always looking for innovative ways of making the tour fun and exciting while learning about the heritage of East London, and e-scooters are an affordable way for us to do that.
“We have five scooters in total. The guided tour covers the new recreational grounds, the aquarium, Heroes Park, Orient Pier and everything inbetween,” Yelani said.
Buffalo City Adventurers is a local organisation aimed at providing a range of adventure experiences around East London and the East Coast while providing interesting insights into the city’s historical marks.
The guided tour has three tour options; 30 minutes, one hour and one and half hour options, ranging from R150 to R350 per ride.
“The scooters are easy to ride and there are safety measures in place to ensure riders are safe.
“Each rider must wear a helmet and ride at a slow pace to prevent injuries. The scooters are set to the lowest speed to avoid any accidents.
“They will remain charged at all times,” Yelani said.
The tours have not yet launched as the team is awaiting a final go ahead from the municipality.
While most residents are excited for this new venture, some are saying that BCM may have jumped the gun with this new project.
Quigney Ratepayer’s Association chairperson, Satish Nair, says that BCM should spend money on maintaining the structures that are already in place, rather than implementing new projects.
“They should have used the money to maintain something they have, instead of on new projects,” said Nair.
