Clarendon High School for Girls has once again asserted its dominance on the debating circuit, with its teams delivering an exceptional performance at The Gauntlet Pre-Provincial Tournament.
Fielding two senior and two junior teams, Clarendon showcased depth, talent and consistency across all divisions.
The senior team comprising Elina Joseph Veleekhizakethil, Ukhonaye Skosana and Qhayiya Tshandu, emerged as overall tournament champions following a thrilling and closely contested final against Queen’s College.
In addition to the team’s success, several pupils earned notable individual accolades.
Zizezakho Makati placed fourth overall in the Senior Division, while Norma Minaar secured an impressive fifth place in the Junior Division.
Further recognition came for Kajal Rama, who was selected to adjudicate the Junior Grand Final, a prestigious honour that reflects her expertise, leadership and respected standing within the debating community.
The results underscore the pupils’ sharp critical thinking and confidence and the school’s reputation as a formidable force in provincial debating.
