FAMILIES looking for a special Easter holiday treat need look no further than the Easter Festival Market taking place this week.

The daily festival, running until Easter Sunday at Hemingways Mall, puts a sweet spin on the holiday period, with an indulgent array of confectionery and themed vendors.
Market-goers can look forward to mouthwatering baked goods, such as Easter-themed biscuits, death-by-chocolate cupcakes, cappuccino slices, milk tarts, and doughnuts drizzled with chocolate and caramel.
“Our first Easter-themed market celebrates the sweet life and allows an influx of new and exciting vendors and added entertainment for the holiday period,” said Hemingways marketing manager Estee Roos, adding that those without a sweet tooth could enjoy savoury treats such as spicy curry bunnies and samoosas, and savoury tarts, among the offerings.
The mall’s Edgars Court and upper ground walkways have been transformed into a traditional market experience, where shoppers will also find wooden and traditional beadwork, African-inspired clothing and accessories, and other unique handmade pieces.
In addition, Roos said there would be a wide variety of daily, free kids’ entertainment to help beat the holiday boredom.
“Our regular community market forms part of the festival and is designed to reflect the vibrancy and diversity of our region. There’s something for everyone, with a variety of stalls, gourmet food vendors, music and entertainment,” Roos said.
Children can also have their photo taken with the Easter bunny over the Easter weekend, and those who enter the colouring-in competition stand a chance to win a share of R1800 in gift card prizes. The market is open during mall hours – with extended trading until 5pm on Sunday and Family Day. It will be closed on Good Friday.
