Using the arts to help the youth prosper

NON-profit organisation, Plant a Seed, is a Mdantsane organisation that focuses on implementing and creating awareness of the art of poetry and other arts among young people.

Founder, Zwelethu Mketshane, said the organisation, which was established in 2016, focuses mainly on senior primary schools where they scout poets and hold workshops.

“Our vision is to grow young people who are passionate about poetry. We make them recite their work to boost their confidence. We hold workshops to teach them how to write and deliver their poems to the public.”

The NPO collected the poems and compile these in a book. “Poetry makes a way for young people who want to influence and change society. We encourage people to participate in music, fine arts, fashion and dance.
