AWARD-WINNING female artist Gugulethu Khumalo, also known as Berita, graced the Steve Biko Centre in Ginsberg, King William’s Town, with her soulful music on Sunday afternoon.
“The first time I performed here was with Msaki. I came back on my own because I love the atmosphere here,” Berita said.
“I’m planning a tour of Southern Africa and I would love to include countries such as Mozambique, Tanzania and Malawi, among others.”

The Southern Africa tour is due to take place from September to November on the back of another month-long tour in East Africa.
“Having spent time with Hugh Masekela, he said we should be proud of our African heritage. I believe that we as musicians have a responsibility to unite our people,” Berita said.
She mentioned that she wants to give back to artists with workshops to compliment their work which will hopefully take place at the Steve Biko Centre.
“All I can say right now is that I’ve earmarked it for the beginning of 2019.”
Berita is currently working on her fourth studio album which is scheduled to drop next year.
