PE’s Pearson win High School Drama Festival

ALEXANDER Playhouse held its ninth Eastern Cape High School Drama Festival last week, with here 13 schools showing off their acting skills while competing for the Lynette Alexander Floating Trophy.

Pearson High School from Port Elizabeth won the trophy and a cash prize of R10,000. Hudson Park High School and Cambridge both took the second place trophy as the adjudicators were tied on their vote.

Cash prizes for best performance went to Erika Visser and James van der Merwe from Pearson High School for their performance of the well-known theatrical work Bar and Ger, written by Geraldine Aron.

Festival coordinator Liz Gibbons said next year would be their 10th year of the festival and they are encouraging schools were encouraged to enter and give their drama pupils a wonderful opportunity to show their talents.
