21 year old Qama Bunyula who hails from Nakani Village, King William’s Town, has entered Miss Eagle South Africa to inspire the youth to follow their dreams.
Bunyula said she entered the pageant after coming across a facebook post that was looking for young people who were passionate about their communities.
“I found myself confident to compete for the crown as I am passionate about my community and
I entered right away” she said “This is my first pageant and it has empowered me to come out of my comfort zone and to always lend a helping to those in need,”.
A Beauty with brains, after completing Matric at Mthwaku Senior Secondary she went on to study Public Management at Port Elizabeth College Dower Campus where she graduated.
“Education is important as it forms the foundation. I wouldn’t have been confident to be part of the Pageant if I didn’t have the foundation Education instilled in me,” said Bunyula.
Miss Eagle South Africa is a team effort founded by an established leading lifestyle and media company Eagle Media.
The pageant which will be held on the 15th of December 2018 in Sandton Convention Center is the going to be the first Miss Eagle Contest in the country.
“If I could win the title I would launch campaigns on Emotional Abuse that is experienced on a daily basis on social media to protect the voiceless victims. I would also launch a bursary fund for students from underprivileged families who want to further their studies in private institutions to get a quality education but lack the funding,” she said.
Confident in her desire to inspire the youth, Bunyula believes nothing is impossible.
“Never limit yourself, go out there and make a difference. Life is too short to postpone things for tomorrow. Don’t just dream, follow your dreams,” she said.
During the Winter season, Bunyula started an initiative of collecting clothes and blankets for those who are need in her community.
” I am still busy with the project of collecting clothes for people who are in need, but my focus is on children, so that they can have a splendid Christmas.I would like involve the community this time, by assisting me with donations.”
