There was much excitement when Kidds Beach running club R72 Smart Pacers received running shoes worth R5,000 from Mokawem’s Plant Hire on Tuesday. October 09.

The running club was founded in August this year with the aim of discouraging local youth from turning to drugs and crime.

Co-founder Mcebisi Yosi said the donation of running shoes could not have come at a more perfect time.

“All the athletes started running in August and have successfully completed the Mdantsane Kasi 10km, the Caltex Sole Destroyer and the Mercedes Benz 15km,” he said.

Mzingisi Gawothi, (30), Monwabisi Ntozini (38) and Siziwe Celu (60) received the donation on behalf of the club.

“We are very happy with the donation and thank our coach for always being so patient with us. We promise to make him, as well as  and the rest of our community proud,” Gawothi said.

Mokawem’s Plant Hire manager, Paul Webb said: “We are proud to help members of the community where we work and we look forward to seeing these athletes grow and become role models to other people in their community.”
