Centrestage and AlgoaFM are inviting East London locals to “party like it’s 1985” at the Real 80’s Dance Party at the Guild Theatre from August 8 to 10.
The event celebrates the 35th anniversary of 1984 and will feature classic music from the decade in order to bring audiences back to the days of their youth, while partying at the now-closed Numbers club.
Expect to hear music from iconic acts such as Alphaville, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Queen and UB40, as you tear up the dance- floor.
Speaking of which, this party will be a real curtain-raiser be especially noticeable because the theatre stage itself will be converted into a full-on dance-floor, with the backstage area decked out to create a unique cabaret setting. The bar will be open for the full three-hour performance, which and will run without a break.
Patrons are encouraged to dress the part, with prizes for best dressed and best dancers on offer.
Tickets are available on Computicket and cost R200 per person or R180 for groups of eight or more.
