King William’s Town-based Jesus the Answer Ministries, led by Dr Mandla Makubalo, held a special sermon on their premises recently that involved over 400 attendees including members of the community, church officials and government representatives.

The theme of the sermon was based on the reading from 3 John 2 (KJV): “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.

“The prupose of this gathering is to assist individuals. We want people to know how to stay safe and we want to be closer to our government,” said Sicelo Lufuta, one of the speakers.

“Today, we are trying to raise funds to uplift the standard of agriculture in the province and to provide jobs to encourage our communities to plant food.”

EC premier Oscar Mabuyane was another guest at the event and encouraged attendees to take a stand against gender-based violence (GBV).

“Gender-based violence and other forms of crimes are terrorizing our communities. The time has come to say ‘enough’,” he said.

He also hit out at civil servants who used their positions of authority to enrich themselves at the expense of the community.

“Our civil servants must be afraid to misuse public funds. They know very well their job is to serve their communities and they are supposed to respect their work and the people they serve,” Mabuyane said.
